Our Simplified Seven Steps of the Reversal Process
If you are interested in vasectomy reversal, we will be available to guide you through every step of the process below.
1. Consultation
To ensure we have accurate information for your personalised treatment plan, we kindly ask that you complete the Questionnaire on our website via the 'Get Started' link below. Upon receiving your completed questionnaire, we will review your information and offer you the opportunity to book a consultation with one of our surgeons. For patients seeking vasectomy reversal for the first time, this initial consultation will be provided free of charge. For all other categories—including patients considering a repeat (redo) reversal following a previous unsuccessful procedure elsewhere, as well as those seeking advice for post-vasectomy pain or other scrotal conditions—a consultation fee will apply. This is £150 for a remote video consultation or £250 for a face-to-face consultation. Should you choose to proceed with treatment following the consultation, the £150 video consultation fee will be deducted from the overall cost of your procedure.
2. Booking a Date for the procedure
We are pleased to offer remote consultation bookings for patients seeking fertility reversal. Rest assured, the vast majority of our patients can secure a booking. A non-refundable deposit of £600 is required to reserve a booking for the operation. The remaining fee must be settled at least one week before the scheduled operation date. Our operating days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, and we operate at most 2 patients per day. For more information on our services and current costs, please click the link provided below.
3. Visit for the Procedure
We have patients travelling from all over the UK, Ireland and further afield. We advise arriving the day before if coming from far away.
4. On the day at the Clinic
Upon arrival, our receptionist and nurses will greet you with warmth and hospitality, ensuring that you feel at ease. Next, our surgeon will conduct a thorough examination, reviewing the original consultation summary and providing further insight into the anatomy and function of the testis, epididymis, and vas. During the physical examination, the surgeon will assess the cut ends of the vas, their length and diameter, the vasectomy's original position, the quality of the epididymis, and the ease of access to the vas. Additionally, your overall health (including diabetes and blood pressure) and any previous groin surgeries will be considered. The surgeon will also obtain your written consent.
Afterwards, the nurses will administer appropriate premedication and escort you to the operating room. Your partner can relax in a private room with refreshments, coffee, and television while you undergo the three to four-hour procedure. They can also stroll in Stockton City Centre, just a three-minute walk from our clinic if desired.
We will provide reassuring updates and local anaesthesia during the procedure to ensure comfort. Even the most anxious individuals have had positive experiences with us. The surgeon will make an appropriate incision to access the scrotum and identify the tubes. We will then examine the fluid from the vas attached to the testis under a microscope. If sperm is present in the sample, the likelihood of a successful outcome is high (our definition of success is the presence of sperm in semen after the procedure). Our primary objective is to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
If there are definite signs of blow-out (determined by fluid appearance, epididymis changes, and microscopic findings), we will perform vasoepididymostomy on one or both sides as needed. The average operating time will be around three hours.
5. Going Home
You may go home immediately after the procedure, within an hour, once you have something to eat. We advise you to stay nearby overnight if you must travel more than 2 hours to your home.
6. Recuperation
After five days of strict rest, you can resume office-based work starting in the second week. Physically active work can resume in the third week, but avoid strenuous activities for at least 4 weeks. It is recommended to refrain from sexual activity for three weeks. Additionally, taking the suggested supplements is advised. After 12 weeks, please conduct semen tests at a local fertility clinic and send the results to us.
